Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.82%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.82%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS), which rose 7.60% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA) added 7.23% or 0.09 points to end at 1.26 and Adbri Ltd (ASX:ABC) was up 7.07% or 0.20 points to 3.03 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Janus Henderson Group PLC DRC (ASX:JHG), which fell 13.04% or 5.66 points to trade at 37.76 at the close. Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) declined 1.86% or 0.07 points to end at 3.69 and Ansell Ltd (ASX:ANN) was down 1.75% or 0.48 points to 26.89.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 941 to 478 and 415 ended unchanged.

Shares in Janus Henderson Group PLC DRC (ASX:JHG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 13.04% or 5.66 to 37.76. Shares in Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) fell to 3-years lows; falling 1.86% or 0.07 to 3.69.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 13.78% to 14.60.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.38% or 25.83 to $1,894.63 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.05% or 0.05 to hit $107.86 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.23 to trade at $110.37 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.61% to 0.72, while AUD/JPY fell 0.12% to 93.61.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 102.86.
