Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.82%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.82%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Domino’S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP), which rose 5.57% or 2.57 points to trade at 48.71 at the close. Meanwhile, AMP Ltd (ASX:AMP) added 5.05% or 0.05 points to end at 1.04 and Magellan Financial Group Ltd (ASX:MFG) was up 4.84% or 0.37 points to 8.01 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB), which fell 2.72% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.89 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) declined 2.42% or 0.05 points to end at 2.02 and Cleanaway Waste Management Ltd (ASX:CWY) was down 2.41% or 0.06 points to 2.43.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 670 to 552 and 357 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 5.97% to 15.89.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.25% or 4.95 to $1,977.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.14% or 0.77 to hit $67.05 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 0.83 to trade at $72.96 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY fell 0.07% to 88.14.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 103.06.
