Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.62%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.62%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS), which rose 5.29% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) added 5.26% or 0.08 points to end at 1.50 and Hub24 Ltd (ASX:HUB) was up 4.73% or 1.35 points to 29.87 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Codan Ltd (ASX:CDA), which fell 6.08% or 0.34 points to trade at 5.25 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) declined 5.91% or 0.14 points to end at 2.23 and Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:LYC) was down 4.49% or 0.35 points to 7.45.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 653 to 634 and 362 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hub24 Ltd (ASX:HUB) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.73% or 1.35 to 29.87.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.38% to 11.81.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.47% or 8.65 to $1,863.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.41% or 0.33 to hit $79.35 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.38 to trade at $85.45 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 0.68, while AUD/JPY fell 0.34% to 91.64.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 104.35.
