Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.39%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.39%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS), which rose 5.58% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Netwealth Group Ltd (ASX:NWL) added 4.95% or 0.64 points to end at 13.56 and Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) was up 3.70% or 0.01 points to 0.28 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ampol Ltd (ASX:ALD), which fell 5.77% or 1.90 points to trade at 31.05 at the close. Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:SLR) declined 3.74% or 0.04 points to end at 1.03 and Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:PRN) was down 3.56% or 0.04 points to 1.09.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 620 to 594 and 401 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.40% to 11.85.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.46% or 8.55 to $1,849.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $78.05 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.11 to trade at $84.64 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 0.68, while AUD/JPY rose 0.11% to 92.13.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 104.73.
