Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.37%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.37%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Invocare Ltd (ASX:IVC), which rose 5.94% or 0.70 points to trade at 12.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) added 3.86% or 0.18 points to end at 4.84 and Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK) was up 3.11% or 0.05 points to 1.49 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:KGN), which fell 7.57% or 0.48 points to trade at 5.86 at the close. Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB) declined 6.67% or 0.03 points to end at 0.35 and Resmed Inc DRC (ASX:RMD) was down 4.63% or 1.33 points to 27.42.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 717 to 530 and 457 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB) fell to all time lows; down 6.67% or 0.03 to 0.35. Shares in Resmed Inc DRC (ASX:RMD) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.63% or 1.33 to 27.42.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.60% to 11.15.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 3.75 to $1,963.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.25% or 0.21 to hit $83.13 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.18 to trade at $86.35 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY rose 0.10% to 93.92.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 102.17.
