Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.28%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Credit Corp Group Ltd (ASX:CCP), which rose 7.90% or 1.35 points to trade at 18.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Austal Ltd (ASX:ASB) added 5.33% or 0.12 points to end at 2.37 and Nine Entertainment Co Holdings Ltd (ASX:NEC) was up 5.32% or 0.11 points to 2.08 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Reliance Worldwide Corporation Ltd (ASX:RWC), which fell 13.37% or 0.48 points to trade at 3.11 at the close. Ampol Ltd (ASX:ALD) declined 12.56% or 3.93 points to end at 27.35 and Whitehaven Coal Ltd (ASX:WHC) was down 4.52% or 0.49 points to 10.36.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 672 to 617 and 365 ended unchanged.

Shares in Reliance Worldwide Corporation Ltd (ASX:RWC) fell to 52-week lows; falling 13.37% or 0.48 to 3.11. Shares in Ampol Ltd (ASX:ALD) fell to 52-week lows; falling 12.56% or 3.93 to 27.35.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.60% to 18.69.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 5.00 to $1,649.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.45% or 0.38 to hit $84.20 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.36 to trade at $90.85 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 0.63, while AUD/JPY rose 0.21% to 94.18.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 111.96.
