Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.14%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.14% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Perpetual Ltd (ASX:PPT), which rose 5.53% or 1.41 points to trade at 26.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS) added 5.16% or 0.04 points to end at 0.82 and Whitehaven Coal Ltd (ASX:WHC) was up 4.15% or 0.38 points to 9.53 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Domino’S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP), which fell 5.33% or 3.38 points to trade at 60.01 at the close. Cromwell Property Group (ASX:CMW) declined 4.83% or 0.04 points to end at 0.69 and Reliance Worldwide Corporation Ltd (ASX:RWC) was down 4.60% or 0.15 points to 3.11.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 641 to 620 and 392 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 0.44% to 15.32.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.32% or 5.35 to $1,655.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.03% or 0.91 to hit $89.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.75 to trade at $95.40 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY fell 0.40% to 94.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 111.29.
