Stocks finished the day sharply in the red again to wrap up a brutal quarter. However, several rumors from around Wall Street drove trading action in a couple of names. Below we highlighted a few:

Barnes Group (NYSE:B) rose fractionally today on word that a new activist fund, Irenic Capital Management, has built a stake in the company and will push for a sale. The group thinks the stock can be worth $60 in a sale, or more than double the current price, Bloomberg News reported.

Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) gained 3% today on chatter that Hollywood super-agent Ari Emanuel is trying to broker a settlement between the social media company and Elon Musk. CNBC followed up on the rumors saying serious settlement talks between the two sides are not seen underway.
