At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.02%, while the S&P 500 index added 0.27%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which rose 7.68% or 4.09 points to trade at 57.33 at the close. Meanwhile, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) added 2.19% or 1.05 points to end at 49.01 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) was up 1.58% or 2.03 points to 130.83 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW), which fell 2.05% or 1.25 points to trade at 59.79 at the close. International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) declined 2.12% or 2.74 points to end at 126.47 and Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) was down 1.63% or 2.37 points to 142.68.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Macerich Company (NYSE:MAC) which rose 7.44% to 12.85, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) which was up 7.68% to settle at 57.33 and Cooper Companies Inc (NYSE:COO) which gained 6.21% to close at 380.26.
The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (NYSE:FTI) which was down 6.55% to 11.99 in late trade, Helmerich and Payne Inc (NYSE:HP) which lost 5.08% to settle at 25.05 and Gap Inc (NYSE:GPS) which was down 4.29% to 22.30 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Live Ventures Inc (NASDAQ:LIVE) which rose 86.72% to 23.34, Foresight Autonomous Holdings Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:FRSX) which was up 67.80% to settle at 6.880 and Cassava Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:SAVA) which gained 48.17% to close at 12.12.
The worst performers were Asia Pacific Wire & Cable Corp Ltd (NASDAQ:APWC) which was down 20.92% to 3.800 in late trade, Acutus Medical Inc (NASDAQ:AFIB) which lost 17.18% to settle at 28.16 and Provention Bio Inc (NASDAQ:PRVB) which was down 14.55% to 16.62 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1578 to 1527 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1814 fell and 1239 advanced, while 62 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cooper Companies Inc (NYSE:COO) rose to all time highs; rising 6.21% or 22.25 to 380.26. Shares in Live Ventures Inc (NASDAQ:LIVE) rose to 3-years highs; up 86.72% or 10.84 to 23.34. Shares in Foresight Autonomous Holdings Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:FRSX) rose to 3-years highs; rising 67.80% or 2.780 to 6.880.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 4.37% to 22.31.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.50% or 9.25 to $1853.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.64% or 0.34 to hit $52.87 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.56 to trade at $56.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.2156, while USD/JPY rose 0.11% to 103.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 90.323.
