President Donald Trump tweeted thanks to major automakers on Wednesday after they sided with him in a legal fight over emissions.

President Donald Trump thanked General Motors and other automakers on Wednesday for supporting him in a legal fight over emissions regulations in California.

In a tweet, Trump said “thank you” to GM GM, -0.77% , Fiat Chrysler FCA, +9.53% and Toyota TM, +0.26% “for standing with us for Better, Cheaper, Safer Cars for Americans. California has treated the Auto Industry very poorly for many years, harming Workers and Consumers.” He added, “We are fixing this problem!”

He also thanked the Association of Global Automakers, a trade group.

As the Associated Press wrote, the three companies, plus the Association of Global Automakers, said Monday they plan to intervene in a lawsuit filed by the Environmental Defense Fund against the Trump administration, which is planning to roll back national pollution and gas mileage standards enacted under the Obama administration.

Also Wednesday, Trump was scheduled to present the Medal of Honor to Army Master Sgt. Matthew Williams, for his actions while serving in Afghanistan in 2008.
