President Donald Trump celebrated Monday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit its first intraday record since mid-July, and called on a whistleblower to testify publicly.

‘ALL-TIME HIGH’

With the Dow DJIA, +0.42%   climbing more than 100 points, Trump coupled a comment on the record with a jab at Democrats’ impeachment inquiry.

“All-Time High for Stock Market and all the Fake News wants to talk about is the Impeachment Hoax!” tweeted the president. Trump called for the whistleblower who raised alarms about his dealings with Ukraine to testify in public — not in written form, as the whistleblower offered.

As the Associated Press notes, Trump himself refused to provide anything but written answers in response to limited questions during the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference during the 2016 election.

The president also, while welcoming the World Series champion Washington Nationals to the White House, took a moment to slam the impeachment proceedings.

“America fell in love with Nats baseball, that’s all they wanted to talk about. Nats and impeachment. I like baseball a lot more,” he said.

KENTUCKY BOUND

Trump was scheduled Monday to campaign in Kentucky, where he’ll stump for Gov. Matt Bevin. A mid-October poll from Mason-Dixon showed Bevin and Democrat Andy Beshear, the state’s attorney general, tied at 46%.

The president will speak at a “Keep America Great Again” rally in Lexington at 7 p.m. local time.
