Trump supporters can smell what Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is cooking, and, judging from their reaction across the internet on Sunday, it stinks.

Johnson, a self-proclaimed independent who said that he has voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the past, just made his “first ever (public) presidential endorsement.”

In an Instagram FB, +2.12% post that went viral, Johnson backed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, calling them the “best choice to lead our country.”

Here’s the clip, which was viewed nearly three million times in just four hours.

He also posted the video, which includes a zoom conversation between Johnson and the two candidates, in a tweet that sent “The Rock” to the top of Twitter’s TWTR, +1.62% trending chart.

He drew plenty of the expected backlash…

But he also got lots of support:

Johnson, with huge hits like “Jumanji” and “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, flirted with the idea of a presidential run this year, but has otherwise avoided wading into politics. He previously told Rolling Stone he didn’t vote in 2016, saying there weren’t adequate candidates.
