Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 0.61% to hit a new 1-month low, while the index declined 0.47%.

The best performers of the session on the were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:), which rose 3.71% or 60.40 points to trade at 1688.65 at the close. Meanwhile, State Bank Of India (NS:) added 2.38% or 7.40 points to end at 318.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.91% or 23.50 points to 1255.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.99% or 9.30 points to trade at 176.90 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) declined 4.50% or 5.20 points to end at 110.40 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) was down 3.65% or 7.10 points to 187.30.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.87% to 1691.05, State Bank Of India (BO:) which was up 2.53% to settle at 318.55 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 2.23% to close at 1258.90.

The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was down 5.80% to 108.90 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.86% to settle at 186.90 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.75% to 2079.30 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 938 to 585 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1363 fell and 934 advanced, while 147 ended unchanged.

Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.50% or 5.20 to 110.40. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.80% or 6.70 to 108.90.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.39% to 17.3675 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.22% or 3.50 to $1580.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.46% or 0.24 to hit $52.38 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.12 to trade at $57.45 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.13% to 71.444, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 78.7540.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.713.
