Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 0.27%, while the index fell 0.17%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.84% or 58.75 points to trade at 2126.75 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) added 1.66% or 9.00 points to end at 552.20 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) was up 1.66% or 12.65 points to 773.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.37% or 18.55 points to trade at 763.10 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) declined 2.29% or 8.65 points to end at 368.35 and ITC Ltd (NS:) was down 1.92% or 4.65 points to 236.90.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.70% to 2127.55, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.65% to settle at 552.30 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.60% to close at 773.55.

The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.97% to 236.90 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.80% to settle at 421.05 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.57% to 1973.90 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 896 to 680 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1287 fell and 1083 advanced, while 206 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.86% to 13.4150.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.04% or 0.55 to $1481.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $60.01 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.12 to trade at $65.34 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.30% to 71.005, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 79.1000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 96.575.
