Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.31% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 6.52% or 3.05 points to trade at 49.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) added 3.05% or 663.15 points to end at 22427.15 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.95% or 63.95 points to 2229.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vedanta Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.49% or 3.80 points to trade at 149.35 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) declined 1.64% or 12.40 points to end at 742.95 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.46% or 6.40 points to 433.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 6.74% to 49.90, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.83% to settle at 2228.65 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.55% to close at 179.15.

The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.26% to 149.35 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.44% to settle at 433.55 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.34% to 2414.05 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 776 to 760 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1190 rose and 1185 declined, while 158 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.74% to 12.1225 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.05% or 0.75 to $1477.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $60.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $66.19 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.14% to 71.089, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 79.1450.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.870.
