Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.74%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.74% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.30%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which rose 4.01% or 2.890 points to trade at 75.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) added 2.18% or 2.050 points to end at 96.240 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 2.15% or 4.02 points to 191.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 8.40% or 8.25 points to trade at 89.95 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 3.36% or 1.200 points to end at 34.560 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was down 3.35% or 7.40 points to 213.50.

The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 3.74% to 138.75, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 3.52% to settle at 40.020 and K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which gained 2.74% to close at 16.125.

The worst performers were Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was down 2.29% to 41.040 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 2.28% to settle at 102.800 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 2.27% to 47.420 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 3.52% to 40.020, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 1.88% to settle at 18.170 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which gained 1.44% to close at 40.575.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 3.06% to 32.300 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which lost 2.59% to settle at 36.160 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 2.28% to 102.800 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 403 to 301 and 74 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.18% or 2.050 to 96.240. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.06% or 1.020 to 32.300.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.04% to 16.10 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.53% or 9.70 to $1824.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.81% or 1.39 to hit $78.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 1.29 to trade at $81.29 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.1338, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8345.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 95.940.
