Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.95%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.95%, while the MDAX index declined 2.34%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.44%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 2.42% or 0.180 points to trade at 7.622 at the close. Meanwhile, Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) added 1.08% or 0.82 points to end at 76.64 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was up 0.66% or 0.090 points to 13.643 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which fell 4.21% or 1.210 points to trade at 27.500 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) declined 4.03% or 1.085 points to end at 25.850 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was down 3.55% or 0.328 points to 8.924.

The top performers on the MDAX were Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which rose 2.69% to 62.900, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was up 2.55% to settle at 4.257 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 1.29% to close at 115.975.

The worst performers were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 10.16% to 5.13 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which lost 8.10% to settle at 41.50 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 8.04% to 50.900 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 2.73% to 22.950, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 1.29% to settle at 115.975 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 0.70% to close at 34.600.

The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was down 8.10% to 41.50 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which lost 8.04% to settle at 50.900 and S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was down 6.51% to 21.82 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 531 to 154 and 58 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) fell to all time lows; falling 10.16% or 0.58 to 5.13.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 16.54% to 41.15.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.34% or 23.05 to $1739.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 5.97% or 1.51 to hit $26.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 5.52% or 1.61 to trade at $30.80 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.0784, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8841.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 100.500.
