Investing.com – Meme stock favorite GameStop (NYSE:GME) was up more than 2% in Tuesday’s premarket after movie chain operator AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) Chief Executive Officer Adam Aron said Monday he was looking to pursue some sort of partnership between the two companies.

“I cannot even count the number of times already that our shareholders have asked us to reach out and partner with GameStop. We’re on the case. More to come.” Aron said Monday. He was addressing investors, analysts and the Reddit gang after the announcement of the company’s second-quarter earnings.

He added that AMC is “certainly willing” to partner GameStop, though no concrete details were announced.

AMC and GameStop are two of the best known ‘meme stocks’ – companies popular with retail investors congregating on forums such as Reddit’s WallStreetBets that first gained widespread attention in January, when an unwind of bearish bets helped send GameStop’s shares up more than 1,600% that month.
