France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 2.83%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 2.83%, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.64%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which rose 1.47% or 0.17 points to trade at 11.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 1.02% or 0.18 points to end at 17.75 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was up 0.95% or 1.05 points to 111.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which fell 7.45% or 0.80 points to trade at 9.92 at the close. Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) declined 6.95% or 1.01 points to end at 13.49 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was down 6.19% or 1.28 points to 19.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which rose 5.51% to 68.95, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 4.16% to settle at 10.26 and Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AM) which gained 3.67% to close at 130.00.

The worst performers were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) which was down 7.45% to 9.92 in late trade, Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) which lost 6.95% to settle at 13.49 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 6.19% to 19.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 301 to 259 and 79 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.04% or 20.65 to $2,008.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.04% or 2.22 to hit $106.48 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.33% or 1.48 to trade at $109.66 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 98.50.
