France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.99%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.99%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.93%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which rose 1.13% or 0.62 points to trade at 55.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) added 0.20% or 0.02 points to end at 11.11 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was down 0.22% or 0.12 points to 55.22 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which fell 4.32% or 23.90 points to trade at 529.20 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 4.05% or 1.25 points to end at 29.53 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was down 3.56% or 3.86 points to 104.66.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which rose 11.20% to 38.43, Bureau Veritas SA (EPA:BVI) which was up 4.57% to settle at 26.98 and Ipsos (EPA:ISOS) which gained 4.51% to close at 47.55.

The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was down 8.00% to 317.30 in late trade, Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which lost 7.31% to settle at 135.60 and La Francaise Des Jeux Sa (EPA:FDJ) which was down 5.05% to 34.98 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 379 to 184 and 73 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ipsos (EPA:ISOS) rose to all time highs; up 4.51% or 2.05 to 47.55.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.53% or 10.35 to $1,937.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.46% or 1.52 to hit $102.27 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.55% or 1.68 to trade at $106.65 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP rose 0.97% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.68% at 101.29.
