France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.34%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.34%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.31%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 1.82% or 0.58 points to trade at 32.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) added 1.56% or 2.00 points to end at 130.25 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 1.39% or 0.30 points to 21.86 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which fell 2.14% or 1.14 points to trade at 52.04 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) declined 1.99% or 1.02 points to end at 50.32 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was down 1.90% or 0.71 points to 36.93.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which rose 7.28% to 42.75, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 7.04% to settle at 60.54 and Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which gained 6.19% to close at 32.60.

The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.02% to 29.000 in late trade, Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which lost 2.92% to settle at 68.20 and Nexity (PA:NEXI) which was down 2.50% to 42.08 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 271 and 79 ended unchanged.

Shares in Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.56% or 2.00 to 130.25.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.39% or 23.40 to $1709.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.23% or 0.14 to hit $60.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $64.14 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1743, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8513.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.123.
