France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.28%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.28% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index unchanged 0%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.00% or 0.36 points to trade at 12.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 2.68% or 0.76 points to end at 29.15 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 2.21% or 0.51 points to 23.38 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which fell 2.34% or 0.97 points to trade at 40.57 at the close. Thales (PA:TCFP) declined 2.28% or 1.52 points to end at 65.06 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was down 1.83% or 1.60 points to 85.60.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which rose 6.12% to 28.08, Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was up 4.87% to settle at 12.48 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which gained 3.23% to close at 3.23.

The worst performers were Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which was down 5.30% to 31.12 in late trade, Rubis SCA (PA:RUBF) which lost 5.25% to settle at 30.30 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.03% to 16.674 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 302 to 260 and 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.12% or 1.62 to 28.08. Shares in Rubis SCA (PA:RUBF) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.25% or 1.68 to 30.30.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.91% to 24.13.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.00% or 19.10 to $1889.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.11% or 0.86 to hit $39.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.92% or 0.82 to trade at $41.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1770, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.9111.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 93.642.
