France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.75%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.75%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.66%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 6.50% or 1.99 points to trade at 32.59 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (PA:TTEF) added 3.07% or 1.46 points to end at 49.06 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 2.96% or 1.76 points to 61.32 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 3.56% or 1.20 points to trade at 32.40 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 2.31% or 1.54 points to end at 65.04 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was down 1.26% or 0.41 points to 32.18.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rexel (PA:RXL) which rose 10.32% to 20.85, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 6.72% to settle at 81.75 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which gained 6.50% to close at 32.59.

The worst performers were Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was down 4.86% to 42.07 in late trade, Nexity (PA:NEXI) which lost 4.47% to settle at 38.88 and Edenred SA (PA:EDEN) which was down 3.77% to 41.66 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 326 to 254 and 77 ended unchanged.

Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 6.50% or 1.99 to 32.59. Shares in TotalEnergies SE (PA:TTEF) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.07% or 1.46 to 49.06. Shares in Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.96% or 1.76 to 61.32. Shares in Rexel (PA:RXL) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.32% or 1.95 to 20.85. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 5-year highs; rising 6.50% or 1.99 to 32.59.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 7.65 to $1826.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.09% or 1.70 to hit $82.92 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 1.30 to trade at $85.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.1445, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8349.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.71% at 94.942.
