Investing.com – Electronic Arts stock (NASDAQ:EA) fell 6% Wednesday on a report that the video games publisher has delayed the launch of Battlefield 2042 and will now release it only next year.

Attributing it to multiple sources, Gamesradar said there is talk that a delay of Battlefield 2042 will be announced soon.

VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb tweeted, “Welcome to delay season. More delays coming this week. I’ll add that I’m actually referring to a singular delay.”

@Dealer_Gaming joined in the conversation with his tweet: “Battlefield 2042 delayed to 2022. That’s what I’m hearing”.

“The Italian GameStop (NYSE:GME) retailer has already updated the release date of Battlefield 2042 PC version to a generic December 31, 2021. So, the delay was almost confirmed. Of course, just wait the official EA statement,” @geronimo_73 tweeted.

The company is yet to comment on talk of the October 22 launch being put off.

Battlefield 2042 is a multi-player game themed around U.S. and Russia being on the brink of a war as climate change has led to severe dwindling of resources.

As entire countries collapse, people find themselves with no nation to call home. These nomads are known as ‘non-patriated’, a diverse group of people who have bound together in clusters across the globe in order to survive the turbulent new world. Players will assume the role of non-patriated soldiers with unique skills who have taken up arms.
